Griff Jones who presented a webinar for NMLSTA on Crash Science last October will be doing a free Science is Cool conference with Pocket Lab on August 3, 2023. Here is more information from him:

I am presenting two sessions at the conference that are related to my work with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (iihs.org). We have developed a free educational website on the science of car crashes and vehicle safety for students and teachers of grades 5-12. It's called Crash Science in the Classroom (classroom.iihs.org).

The conference will be live-streamed from the IIHS's Vehicle Research Center in Ruckersville, VA. We will also do a live crash-test for the teachers and have a Q&A with the engineers after the test.  I will also do Q&As after my sessions.

Here is a description of one of my sessions:

GRIFF JONES  - Crash and Learn! Integrating “Crash Science in the Classroom” teaching resources

Join Griff Jones, host and lead developer of the interactive IIHS educational website for a Teaching Tips Tour that includes strategies and best practices for utilizing the site’s many resources for both in-person and online instruction. Learn how to access free detailed hands-on lesson plans, award-winning videos and short video segments, engaging demonstrations, engineering-design challenge projects, student worksheets and answer keys, and behind-the-scenes tours of the IIHS Vehicle Research Center.

Here is a link to the site for teachers to register for the free conference:
